A local softball team returned from a tournament in Oklahoma Wednesday where they had to take cover from a deadly storm.
The Johnston Dragons purple softball team were only miles away from the El Reno tornado Friday.
?I was, like, scared,? said team member Allie Bustad. ?I was about ready to pee my pants.?
The storm killed 18 people but stayed north of their location. Despite the destruction, coach Tony Hughes said there was good news.
?I think we ended up raising a little short of $1,800,? Hughes said. ?That Saturday, when we were in OKC, we went to the Oklahoma Red Cross and gave them the check, and I think the girls were pretty proud of themselves for helping other people.?
