NELSON ISLAND, B.C. - Two women on Nelson Island, in B.C.'s Sunshine Coast region, have been rescued by a military helicopter after falling off a balcony.
The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria says there was limited access to where the women were, and the beach terrain was difficult, so paramedics had to call in extra help.
The paramedics came on board a Coast Guard ship, while search and rescue technicans arrived by air.
The two women were hoisted by the technicians into the helicopter and then taken to the hospital.
They are both in stable condition.
